Excuse me while I Interject Myself.

A good conversation requires energy and focus. If you cannot engage meaningfully, I would advise not engaging. Be honest about what you want rather than lie to yourself and make excuses to stay in your comfort zone, be polite, and walk away.

It’s neither helpful nor productive to involve yourself in a discussion when you are tired, irritated, and headachy. If you force yourself to talk when you don’t want to, you won’t be satisfied with your end of the conversation, and you probably won’t remember what was said on either side. You should never feel guilty for walking away from a conversation in which you cannot mentally invest. You can tell when someone is or isn’t interested in what you have to say. A connection will most likely happen if you show your true self instead of trying to obey the person you think they want you to be.

Martinez says it can be hard to have a meaningful conversation. You mumble or trail off when speaking because you are too worried about how other people think of you. Let those distractions go. Do not fear bringing up a topic of conversation and know that what you have to say is worthwhile and essential, as this holds many people back from being engaged. Many communications are nonverbal, so it’s essential to be mindful of your body language. Body language is just as important as the words coming out of your mouth. Moreover, direct eye contact is excellent and having your body face the other person can also help. Give respect by putting your phone away and facing them. To listen, you zip your lips and be in the moment. This shows your interest in them, and they are likelier to show interest in you when you speak. They can have your undivided attention. Don’t get discouraged if you can’t have a meaningful conversation immediately. Your conversational skills will blossom if you don’t give up and have patience.
